The University of Arkansas at Monticello received endowments totaling $6,240,000 from the Windgate Foundation — the largest gift in UAM Foundation history — aimed at need-based scholarships and strengthening the School of Nursing and School of Education.
Of the total, $6 million establishes four endowments that will generate annual support through the UAM Foundation, with a $240,000 bridge grant for immediate needs. Two million dollars funds need-based scholarships across majors; the remaining $4 million creates faculty-support, program-enhancement/technology, and student-scholarship endowments for nursing and teacher education.
Chancellor Dr. Peggy Doss called the package a historic investment in SEARK’s nursing and teaching pipeline. Windgate Foundation executive director Patricia Forgy said the gifts reflect a commitment to essential professions and student access. The 2025 award is Windgate’s fifth gift to UAM, following earlier support for visual arts, scholarships, Colleges of Technology equipment and a university art facility.
