The Bradley County Extension Office recently hosted its Kid Chef Challenge, a fun and educational cooking activity for 4-H youth and other young people in the community.

The challenge is held four times a year at the extension office. Youth show their cooking skills by preparing an assigned dish. For this challenge, participants chose to make a soup, stew or gumbo.
How the challenge worked
- Cooking: Students prepared their dish at home and brought it to the extension office.
- Judging: A panel of judges evaluated each entry on nutritional content, taste and appearance.
- Table setting: Participants demonstrated their table setting skills.
- Speech: Each participant gave an informative speech on their chosen dish.

First-place winners
- Junior division: Arielle Weaver
- Senior division: Jack Chambers
