Warren Runs for Seven Touchdowns, Beats Star City 49-21 on Bulldogs’ Homecoming

Warren scored all seven of its touchdowns on the ground Friday night and beat Star City 49-21, spoiling the Bulldogs’ homecoming in Star City, Saline River News reported.

The Lumberjacks led 28-14 at halftime and invoked the mercy rule with a 49-14 lead late in the third quarter. Warren is now 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the 4A-8 Conference. Star City falls to 3-4 and 1-3 in league play.

Hayden Hampton intercepted a pass to end Star City’s next threat, and Avery turned it into a 21-yard touchdown run. Star City tied the game 14-14 early in the second quarter. Warren then scored twice before the half on short runs by DeAngelo Herron.

Herron added two more touchdowns in the third quarter, including one set up by a Jacob Marshall interception. Avery’s 10-yard run made it 49-14 and started the running clock. Star City scored once more in the fourth quarter.
