AGFC Adds ~740 Acres and Wargo Landing Access to Trusten Holder WMA

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission completed a lease opening a roughly 730-acre island in the Arkansas River—plus about 10 acres at Wargo Landing—within Trusten Holder WMA, restoring public hunting and fishing access in southeast Arkansas.

Assistant Wildlife Management Chief David Luker said the old concrete ramp and ~¾-acre parking (about 25 trailers) reconnect when the Arkansas City gauge reaches 16 feet. Commissioner Bill Jones of Pine Bluff called the access a safety gain for wardens and boaters. The lease runs until the following June while AGFC pursues permanent acquisition; nearby USFWS parcels also expanded the WMA footprint.
