Star City’s girls basketball team was named a Class 4A state co-champion with Farmington in April 2020. The Arkansas Activities Association canceled the remaining state finals because of the coronavirus.
Star City finished 32-0. The Lady Bulldogs had reached the 4A final with state tournament wins over Southside Batesville and Pulaski Academy at Farmington’s Cardinal Arena, March 4-7, 2020. The final against Farmington (32-3) was scheduled for March 13 at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs.
The AAA postponed the finals on March 12. It canceled them the following month, after Gov. Asa Hutchinson closed schools for the rest of the year, and named every 3A through 6A finalist a state champion, the Pine Bluff Commercial reported.
