Dumas voters get a second chance to question local candidates before Election Day at a forum and fall festival Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Legacy Center in West Dumas.
The All of Dumas United campaign is calling the event “Round 2: Candidates and Community.” It runs from noon to 6 p.m. at 501 W. Bowles St. Organizers invited candidates to speak, answer questions and lay out their plans for Dumas and Desha County. The Pine Bluff Commercial first reported the event from a news release by Arthur L. Hunt Jr., CEO of the College of Aspiring Artists.
What is planned
- When: Noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.
- Where: The Legacy Center, 501 W. Bowles St., West Dumas.
- Candidates: Each candidate may speak and reserve a campaign table to meet residents.
- Businesses and vendors: Expo tables are open to local businesses, sponsors and community groups.
- Families: Organizers promise music, food trucks and youth activities, billed as “Treats, No Tricks” on Halloween day.
- Survey: Residents can fill out the group’s community survey on what Dumas and Desha County need most.
Second round after Oct. 15 town hall
The first round met Oct. 15 at the Dumas Community Center on Belmont Drive. iSEARK.com previewed that town hall, which asked whether the community is better off than it was four years ago. The organizers’ event page frames Round 2 around two questions: “Who has vision?” and “Who will lead?”
Organizers say the survey is voluntary and may not speak for every resident. They plan to share results after reviewing the answers.
