Bradley County Quorum Court last Monday approved Ordinance No. 2026-2 authorizing a $117,596.91 letter of credit for landfill post-closure financial assurance and allowing the county to pledge the Bradley County Services Building as security, The Eagle Democrat reported.
County Judge McKinney said state regulators now require the added assurance and that delays in opening a newly constructed landfill cell had forced temporary suspension of City of Warren waste to protect capacity. The court also appointed Eddie Raines as the Hermitage School District’s school representative to the county equalization board, accepted the resignation of longtime Justice of the Peace Jimmy Sledge, and approved Resolution No. 2026-1 declaring a District 4 vacancy. McKinney also floated gauging interest in selling about 26 acres on the Warren Bypass once eyed for a future jail, without placing the tract formally for sale.
BCMC COO Leeanna Williams noted the hospital’s 75th-anniversary celebration and MASH-program activities that week. The next meeting was set for Monday, July 20, at 6 p.m.
