The Warren City Council on Monday, May 11, authorized a state outdoor-recreation grant bid for the city swimming pool and moved to clear a county landfill invoice while keeping the 2026 budget on track.
After a public hearing, council adopted Resolution No. A-713 to apply for a 50/50 matching grant for pool improvements. Mayor Gregg Reep said city and county sales-tax revenues continue to rise.
Reep also reported letters from Bradley County Judge Klay McKinney seeking payment for dirt work the county performed while excavating landfill cells. Council approved selling the city’s red commercial dumpsters at the highest available rate and selling a Mack garbage truck, directing proceeds toward the balance. Council also adopted Ordinance No. 979 so Council Member Memory Burks-Frazer can continue managing the pool for the summer season, approved Municipal League Trauma Assistance Program participation, and raised the city credit-card limit from $5,000 to $8,000.
