The University of Arkansas at Monticello has named Brian Hargis vice chancellor for advancement. Hargis, who earned a B.S. in agriculture business from UAM, assumed the role Sept. 1.
Hargis served nearly 15 years as community president for Simmons Bank in Monticello and has been on the Monticello Economic Development Commission board since 2011. He completed the Graduate School of Banking at LSU in 2016. Through the Simmons First Foundation, he helped secure support for UAM, the SEARK Concert Association, the Miracle League of Southeast Arkansas, Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Family Services and The Centers for Youth and Families.
In the new post he will oversee fundraising, alumni engagement, donor relations and foundation partnerships. Chancellor Peggy Doss pointed to his “background in banking and finance and his ability to build meaningful relationships.”
