The University of Arkansas at Monticello was awarded a $1,405,759 grant from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council (ANCRC) to renovate the Music Building, formerly the Fine Arts Building, on the Monticello campus.
Funds will replace interior mechanical systems on the first and second floors, swapping the freon system for a 4-pipe HVAC setup and installing a new hot-water boiler. The 1934–35 Public Works Administration structure, designed by A. N. McAninch in Tudor Revival style with Gothic accents, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2025.
Chancellor Dr. Peggy Doss called the sandstone landmark central to UAM’s collegiate character and thanked ANCRC for investing in its preservation for students and the community.
