The Simmons First Foundation gifted $50,000 to support the Snowden Waterfowl Center of Excellence at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, a partnership with the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, UAEX reported Feb. 16.
The Monticello-based center advances waterfowl and wetlands research and education in Southeast Arkansas. Division of Agriculture leaders said the gift aligns with youth development and environmental goals; UAM Chancellor Peggy Doss and center director Douglas Osborne said it strengthens undergraduate and graduate scholarship pathways.
The center grew from a state appropriation and private gifts that endowed the Dyke-Snowden Chair of Waterfowl and Wetlands and later expanded into a full Center of Excellence.
