Saturday rain is in the forecast for El Dorado, and organizers of three downtown-area events are adjusting. The El Dorado News-Times reported the weather plans on Sept. 29.
Carnival of Love. Meet Me at the Court plans its 13th annual Sharion Bailey Whitlock Carnival of Love from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Mattocks Park. As a precaution, organizers said the carnival will be rescheduled to Oct. 17 if storms move in. The free family event includes food, music, games, inflatables, a dunking booth, a mini-football clinic with El Dorado High players and more. Call Veronica Bailey at 870-310-0391 for updates.
Elm Street Block Party. Businesses on the north side of the Union County Courthouse Square say the block party will go on rain or shine at 6 p.m. Saturday. Plans include DJ Carter Bryant, giveaways and live music from Black Dog Friday, Saving For Tuesday and Motorqueen, plus food from Flossie’s and McGraws. Standard Lithium is the title sponsor. If needed, organizers said they will use tents and awnings across Elm Street. Call Wild Elm at 870-444-4099.
Paint the Town Pink. The 14th annual 5K Color Run/Walk, hosted by the #teamcorrie Cancer Foundation, is still listed for 8 a.m. Saturday near Jefferson Avenue and Elm Street under the theme “Surfin’ for a Cure!” Organizers had not announced a rain call when the News-Times published. Farmers market. Main Street El Dorado held off on the second fall Farmers Market Saturday; it resumes at 8 a.m. Oct. 10, 17 and 24, executive director Terry Moore said.
