Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services spent more than 12 hours battling a fire at a recycling center on Sixth Avenue across from Central Moloney, with crews still working the remaining flames after the blaze was contained the morning of Sept. 17.
Firefighters were dispatched about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, after several large piles of scrap wood from pallets caught fire near an incinerator. Public Information Specialist John Worthen said the fire was contained Thursday morning but remained ongoing and would take time and a lot of water to extinguish.
No injuries were reported, and fire officials said there was no danger to the public. Crews worked through the night and into Thursday morning from several angles to bring the blaze under control.
