The McGehee School District is asking the state for federal Ed-Flex flexibility so it can keep K–8 after-school tutoring running and steer other federal dollars toward identified student needs.
District notices outline two waiver tracks. Under Title I, Part A, McGehee wants relief from the usual 15% carryover cap so it can combine funding across fiscal cycles for tutoring. The district tied the effort to a goal of improving reading proficiency by about 2%. Separately, it seeks flexibility under Title IV, Part A so spending for well-rounded programs, student safety and technology can track local priorities instead of rigid federal splits.
A public-comment window ran Sept. 11–23. The notices do not by themselves approve the changes — Arkansas Department of Education action is still required — and they do not spell out dollar totals for the current request.
