Within two days after the Kingsland City Council approved a resolution allowing the mayor to apply for a grant to help build an amphitheater at Kingsland Heritage Park, volunteer group Kickstart Kingsland put the project on hold.
In an Aug. 17, 2026, statement, the board said it postponed the amphitheater, the proposed Get Rhythm Music Festival (previously set for Saturday, Sept. 26) and the festival pageant until further notice, canceling related volunteer meetings. The move came less than a month after a July 18 groundbreaking at Heritage Park. Kickstart Kingsland said all festival sponsors will receive a full refund and thanked volunteers, vendors and performers.
The free festival had been billed as a full-day downtown event with a parade, kids zone, BBQ cook-off, car show, pageants and live music from morning into evening.
