Highway 15 South VFD Wins $10,000 State Farm Firefighter Safety Grant

Highway 15 South Volunteer Fire Department serving the Pine Bluff area is one of six Arkansas departments selected for a $10,000 grant through the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program, announced Aug. 18, 2026 — Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day.

State Farm partners with the National Volunteer Fire Council to help volunteer departments buy personal protective equipment, EMS and rescue tools, communications gear and related safety kit. Program organizers said 150 departments nationwide received awards this year, totaling $1.5 million in 2026 and $4 million since 2024.

Other Arkansas recipients named alongside Highway 15 South include Bodcaw (Rosston), Leslie, Scranton Rural, South Bend Fire District No. 10 (Jacksonville) and Wrightsville Volunteer Fire. Organizers noted that 82% of U.S. fire departments rely mostly or entirely on volunteers and often struggle to fund modern protective equipment.
