Pine Bluff carbon-casting company Graphyte unveiled the expansion of its Loblolly Facility at 3411 N. Hutchinson St. during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 10.
With backing that includes Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Tokyo-based Sumitomo Corp., Graphyte expanded capacity to generate 50,000 durable carbon-removal credits a year — more than three times production from its January 2024 opening through June 2026. Captured carbon is cast into blocks and stored underground on about 70 acres in Grant County.
CEO Barclay Rogers said the company nearly tripled the building footprint from 47,384 to 130,485 square feet. Jeff Vanderpool, executive vice president of manufacturing operations, said the expansion line has moved from production testing into weeks of operation.
Rogers described the Pine Bluff site as a first-of-its-kind durable carbon-removal facility and a major step for the industry. Sumitomo’s Wataru Sato highlighted Arkansas rice-hull byproducts as part of Graphyte’s feedstock mix.
