Cleveland County Sheriff Brad Young announced Friday that Trevor Monk has joined the sheriff’s department as a patrol deputy.
Monk is a longtime county resident who lives near Rison with his wife, Sydney, and their two children. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 2017 and from the Arkansas State Police Academy in 2025, according to Deltaplex News.
Young said the department looks forward to the experience and dedication Monk brings to the job.
Weekly activity report
Young also released the department’s activity report for Sept. 26 through Oct. 2. Deputies logged 15 ambulance calls, four fire calls, three accidents, three animal calls and one death.
Other calls included four disturbances, three suspicious-person calls, two thefts, two harassment complaints, two welfare checks and one downed power line. Deputies also took reports of one fraud, one identity theft, one scam, one reckless driver and one trespassing complaint, and handled two runaway cases and two reports of illegal burning.
Arrest and citations
The sheriff’s department reported one felony arrest. A 36-year-old Pine Bluff man was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, both Class D felonies, and simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, a Class Y felony. An arrest is not a conviction.
Deputies wrote three traffic citations: two for driving on a suspended license and one for improper passing.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month walk
Deputies escorted residents and staff from the Green House Cottages on a walk Friday morning that marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Young said the department was honored to support the group.
