Altheimer Sets Taildragger Day for ARDBT Marker Oct. 24

Altheimer is next on the Arkansas River Delta Blues Trail marker circuit: organizers plan Taildragger Day on Oct. 24 to honor James Yancey “Taildragger” Jones with a hometown commemorative plaque.

Trail founder Billy Jeter announced the date while unveiling the Queen Sylvia Embry marker in nearby Wabbaseka on Sept. 5. It will be the fourth ARDBT marker erected this year in performers’ hometowns, following dedications for Bobby Rush in Sherrill, Larry “Totsie” Davis in England, and Queen Sylvia Embry in Wabbaseka.

The markers are meant to keep Delta blues heritage visible in Jefferson County’s small towns that also anchor waterfowl and farm economies each fall.
