President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump voted early Saturday afternoon in West Palm Beach, Fla., then the president flew to a campaign rally in Perry, Ga.
The couple cast their ballots at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office, according to One America News, Fox News and the Washington Examiner. Trump is not on the ballot this year. He has asked supporters to vote as if he were, as Republicans try to hold Congress in the Nov. 3 midterm elections.
What Trump said after voting
Trump took questions from reporters for nearly 20 minutes, the Washington Examiner reported. He sounded hoarse and said the rally schedule was wearing on his voice, the New York Post reported.
- On the midterms: Trump noted that a sitting president’s party usually loses ground in midterm years. “There’s no president that’s ever campaigned like I have,” he said.
- On his vote: He did not say whom he picked. On Truth Social, he has endorsed Sen. Ashley Moody for U.S. Senate and Rep. Byron Donalds for governor in Florida.
- On pardons: Trump left open the idea of pardoning junior White House staffers ahead of any congressional probes. The Washington Examiner reported he said he is “allowed” to do so.
- On California ballots: Trump pointed to the Justice Department’s fight over about 20,000 flagged California ballots. He claimed the number “could be as high as a million votes.”
Rally in middle Georgia
After voting, Trump left for an evening rally in Perry, Ga., One America News reported. The stop is part of a string of rallies for Republican candidates in the final stretch before Election Day.
