ARDOT: Campaign Signs Not Allowed on Highway Right of Way

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) reminded all counties Sept. 25 that campaign signs may not be placed on highway right of way. State law allows only official directional, informational and regulatory signs on state-owned highway property, and the local ARDOT Area Maintenance Office takes down any others.

ARDOT Director Jared Wiley said, “It is important to keep highway right of ways clear for the safety of both drivers and road workers.”

Crews will pull yard signs from the right of way and contact the owners of large billboard-style signs to have them removed. Owners can collect removed signs at the nearest ARDOT Area Maintenance Office during regular business hours.
