The city of Pine Bluff was awarded a $75,000 grant through the African American Mayors Association, in partnership with the American Beverage Foundation, to expand youth health and wellness programming.
Funds support “From the Garden to the Kitchen,” a gardening, cooking and wellness initiative led by YEAH8 Arts & Motion for ages 5–18. The program targets childhood obesity, food insecurity and limited health education with hands-on work growing produce, preparing meals and producing multimedia content that promotes healthy living across Pine Bluff.
Mayor Vivian Flowers framed the award as youth investment that equips families with practical tools. YEAH8 president Tylor Johnson said the partnership launches immersive STEAM-style enrichment at the Chester Hynes Community Center.
