Pine Bluff Council Weighs Outdoor Recreation Matching Grant of up to $750,000

The Pine Bluff City Council agenda advanced authorization for Mayor Vivian Flowers to enter an agreement with the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism under the state’s Outdoor Recreation Matching Grants Program.

Approval would let the city apply for up to $750,000 to improve recreational facilities. Grant-backed projects must remain dedicated to public outdoor recreation in perpetuity, stay open during reasonable hours, and be maintained in safe, clean operating condition after completion.

The same agenda package also covered returning oversight of the Carl A. Redus Jr. Aquatic Center to Parks and Recreation, expanding the Urban Agriculture Task Force, and establishing a 90-day probationary period for newly hired non-uniformed employees.
