Pine Bluff High School’s class of 2027 became the first to tour the remodeled campus on West 11th Avenue during the week of Labor Day, and will be the first to graduate from the 172,500-square-foot two-story building next May, according to the Pine Bluff Commercial.
Seniors arrived Tuesday, Sept. 8, followed by juniors and sophomores, with Friday set as the first full class day for all three grades. Students spent the past two years at the former Jack Robey Junior High while construction continued. Interim Superintendent Phillip Carlock said the project finished under the $73,914,116 budget funded by a 2023 millage that also unified rates across the former Pine Bluff and Dollarway zones.
The campus includes a roughly 2,200-seat basketball arena, a 900-seat theater, remodeled Jordan Stadium (which hosted its first football game in almost three years Aug. 28), and a Career and Technical Education wing. An open house originally planned for Sept. 12 was rescheduled so it would not conflict with UAPB’s Southern Heritage Classic trip to Memphis.
Families seeking the new open-house date should watch district announcements.
