Guide Civics & Government · evergreen reference, not a news story · All guides
County assessor property cards (or online parcel records) show how the office describes land and improvements for assessment. They are not the same document as your tax bill or your deed. Learning to pull your own card — and your neighbor’s comparable sales context — is ordinary public-record literacy.
Useful stops
- Search by parcel number or address on the county assessor site.
- Note assessed value categories and recent change reasons if listed.
- Watch the county’s appeal / equalization calendar if you dispute facts on the card.
Field habit: print or PDF the card the day you list or refinance — portals update.
