The Justice Department has charged 64 foreign nationals across 17 states with unlawful voting, fraudulent voter registration and related election offenses in roughly the last five weeks, Fox News reported Sunday, citing figures the department provided.

Where the cases are concentrated

Minnesota leads with 11 defendants, followed by Pennsylvania with 10 and Texas with nine, according to the department’s tally carried by Fox News. Louisiana has five. New Jersey, California and Florida each have four.

  • Scope: 64 foreign nationals charged in 17 states in about five weeks.
  • Broader tally: DOJ says it has charged 104 people with voting fraud-related offenses since President Trump returned to office in 2025.
  • Timing: Cases are moving ahead of November’s midterm elections.

What prosecutors say

A DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital that every illegal vote cancels a lawful citizen’s vote and pointed to Iowa’s 2020 2nd Congressional District race, decided by six votes. The department said federal prosecutors are bringing more than twice as many election-fraud cases each week as that margin.

“Voting by noncitizens and other ineligible voters is a federal crime, and the department will enforce the law whether a case involves one illegal ballot or hundreds,” the spokesperson said, according to Fox News.

Allegations range from fraudulent registration applications to ballots cast in more than one election. Fox News reported the department has also secured guilty pleas in some cases, including against Filipino national Evelyn Miller of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, who pleaded guilty to illegally voting in the 2024 presidential election and faces up to one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Examples in the tally

  • Pennsylvania: Haitian national Cliff Sanon charged with submitting a fraudulent voter registration in Philadelphia County; prosecutors allege eight registration applications and a vote in the November 2022 election.
  • Minnesota: Ghanaian green-card holder Joshua Kofi Edzie charged with illegally voting in the state’s August 2026 primary and falsely claiming U.S. citizenship on registration.
  • Louisiana: An ex-mayoral candidate in Cotton Valley was indicted on a charge of voting by an alien tied to a registration submitted in another person’s name, Fox News reported.

Authorities have not established that any case in the nationwide tally changed an election outcome, Fox News reported.
