Warren Council: Solar Farm Near Online; Fall Festival Street Closures Oct. 31

The Warren City Council covered economic development, public safety and upcoming events at its regular meeting Monday, Sept. 14.

Mayor Gregg Reep said Warren’s new solar farm is nearing completion and is waiting for Entergy to connect the facility to the grid. Council approved street closures for Warren’s Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 8 p.m., including a portion of West Cypress Street and Main Street from the railroad to Church Street.

Police Chief Shaun Hildreth reported the department is five full-time patrol officers short, and council discussed early-stage revenue options including a possible sales tax and wet-city petition. The next regular meeting moves to Tuesday, Oct. 13, because of the Columbus Day holiday.
