The Pine Bluff School District released its annual report to the public ahead of a regular board meeting, Superintendent Jennifer Barbaree presenting curriculum, partnership and finance highlights.
The district reported 184 gifted-and-talented students, 12 honor classes and 10 Advanced Placement courses, plus seven concurrent-credit options through Southeast Arkansas College (psychology, college algebra, computer networking, intro to computers, basic welding, technical math and principles of academic success). In May, 181 AP exams were administered.
Enrollment topped 2,900 students with 527 contracted employees and average teacher salary of $59,682. Finances showed a June 30 ending balance of $49,815,621 after revenue exceeded expenses by more than $3 million. Barbaree emphasized Science of Reading literacy work and partnerships with UAPB and SEARK for early college and CTE pathways.
ATLAS results still show most grades 3–8 needing support in math and science, with brighter Level 3–4 shares in selected elementary cohorts. District highlights included Arkansas Community Foundation social-work grants, a Simmons Bank AED gift toward Heart Safe School status, and STAR Career Council transition resources for students with disabilities.
